About Langkawi

Langkawi is the largest island in Malaysia's northern archipelago, and sits in the Strait of Malacca with Phuket, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. About 90,000 island residents.

It obtained duty-free port status in 1987 and is a famous tourist attraction in Malaysia, attracting about 4 million tourists a year.

Langkawi Sky Bridge

  • Total length 125 meters .
  • The bridge is arc-shaped .
  • Supported by only one 87-meter steel column, it connects two mountaintops at an altitude of 687 meters .
  • Named "Langkawi Sky Bridge" .

Kilim Geoforest Park

  • The first geopark in south east asia region.

Eagle Square

  • The eagle was constructed to serve as a symbolic icon for the island. According to local legends, the name of the island came from two Malay words – helang (Eagle) and kawi (reddish-brown), hence the name lang-kawi.
  • Resembling an eagle about to spread its wings, the 39-foot (12-meter) statue stands in the center of the ornate plaza.

Underwater World Langkawi

  • Underwater World Langkawi (UWL) is one of the largest marine and freshwater aquariums in South East Asia.
